Environmental Commissioner to Tour Rare Carolinian Forest at Marcy’s Woods
Environmental Commissioner of Ontario, Gord Miller and the multi stakeholder advisory committee are set to tour the rare Carolinian forest of Marcy’s Woods. Appointed by the Legislative Assembly of Ontario to monitor and report on the provincial government’s compliance with the Environmental Bill of Rights, the ECO and his committee selects an area of the province to visit each summer and will take a break from meetings to tour environmental projects and initiatives.
2010 is the International year of biodiversity and with Marcy’s Woods as one of only 38 Carolinian areas in Canada, the unique biodiversity of the site and successes at environmental protectionism made it a natural choice for this year’s visit.
